LAKELAND, Fla. – "Holy Spirit fall! God is here! We want more! More, more, more!"

They will comment vigorously on things they have not witnessed. I actually watched a couple of serives on the net and theses people were not freaked out.

But it is always going to be culture and strangeness that will drive the criticism. There are still a lot of God fearing people here who are proud of this great nation and want God to continue blessing us. Over the past 30 years or so, many "free thinkers" have tried to push God out of this country. This country was founded by those who wanted freedom to worship God, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. If were are to become a great nation that our forefathers wanted we must yield to God. Remember what 2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us; If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land. We need to not question this move of God but embrace it.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

I would not get academic about something God is busy doing and totally respect Rick's views as apposed to some theolodical explanation. It is a great feeling, almost like you are getting a tight, harm hug. Its all about the Lords love. I once stood in the back of church, thinking to myself "What are these people thinking" I thought thay were pretending to feel these things. At that moment the preacher called my husband and I to the front and asked if I was ready to have my baby (I was 9 months pregnant and not having any kind of pains) I had told him I was but it still was not time. He just smiled at me and touched my head. I buckeled to my knees because my son kicked me right in the ribs as soon as he touched me. He told me I needed to go to the hospital because there was something wrong. I arrived to the hospital and the doctor told me to "Thank God" because if I had waited a day more to go in I would have lost my son. I visited Lakeland a month ago and was impacted by the power and presence of God. My back was healed watching online before I went, and a young man in our group was healed of asthma. One thing I would change about the wording of your article is that we don't believe Todd in himself has the ability to heal us but that Jesus is using Todd and in many cases the Holy Spirit is healing people in the meetings totally apart from Todd or anyone else praying for them. In the last days I will pour our my spirit upon all flesh. Your sons and your daughters shall prophecy, Your old men shall dream dreams. Your young men shall see visions, and upon my servants and my handmaidens in that day, will I pour out of my spirit.
And another verse in Psalms says, By his stripes we were healed. this written a long time before Jesus came, was whipped with the cat of nine tails, leaving stripes upon his back, and crucified, and rose from the dead. The true mercy and love of Christ is at last being preached and demonstrated.
Christ has broken free from the trappings, and bindings of organized religion.
A religion that Jesus said was like tinkling brass and sounding cymbals. Otherwise, dead.
We are seeing this! And it is not your cookie cutter preachers anymore. It is the real people who make up society. Waitresses, nannies, bikers, rednecks, cowboys, cowgirls, Goths, punks, you name it. They who the organized churches have shunned, are being used by God.
Otherwise anyone who shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved, and God is using them.
These are the servants and handmaidens of the Lord when they allow God’s spirit to flow through them.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

Todd Bentley,
My wallet is bleeding because of the high gas prices and associated inflation. Check it out I did. I was glued to the TV for four hours on Sunday, May 4th amazed at the presence of the Lord through the Television and the miracles and healings that were taking place. Samething the next night, and for the remainder of the week. I decided That I needed to check it out in person so I went down to Florida that weekend (May 9-11) Wow! My first meeting was on Saturday night, May 10th in an open field at the local airport. All I can say is like it was a continuing chapter from the book of Acts. Signs, wonders and miracles and an awesome presence of the Holy Spirit. I actually had an opportunity to interview Todd Bentley and found him to be as real as they come. A man of God filled with the Holy Spirit. The weekend down in Lakeland has revised and refreshed me like no other time in my walk with the Lord. I recommend it to anyone who is hungry for righteousness...You will be filled.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

Thank you MSNBC for this article. I'm one of the thousands that had to go see for myself what this was all about and I'm glad I did. The most notible thing in these meetings is the presence of God and that's what it is really all about. Todd is a very humble, sincere man of God and I'm glad to see the Lord moving through him in such a mighty way. He's helped knock off more than one pair of "religious" glasses so that we can see God will use any willing vessel whether they have tatooes or a three piece suit.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

Check it out for your self. Everyone is accountable for His/Her own actions, meaning that we as individuals must always check our spirit and make sure it is in line with the Holy Spirit of God. Without the leading of the Holy Spirit, people will be misled or perish. I am not talking about Todd Bentley, but I am talking about everyone who is in a Church Leadership position.

The Lord tells us that we must always compare what is happening to the Word of God. Yes, God is all-powerful, Jesus is amazing, and I am a radical Servant of God. BUT, I must point out false doctrines, and this is one of them! The Bible make it VERY clear that the apostles were able to heal and do miracles, they were able to pass that gift on to someone else ONCE, and after that, that gift died out. The power to perform miracles was to prove that Jesus was the messiah and was for the Jews, to help them believe...But after that, we had the Word of God to give us faith.

And is this guy even preaching the right doctrine? How is his life? A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot product good fruit. Is he following the formula in the Bible for making disciples? Is he even making Disciples? Is he teaching people to obey the Word?

For God's sake, it's no wonder people hate christians so much! Ninety-nine percent of "christians" (who are not actually christians at all according to the Bible) are still lost, with a different label. This is infuriating, it makes me sick.

The Bible says that the servants of Satan masquarade as angels of light, that wolves will come in sheeps clothing, and that false teachers will abound.

Sure, prayer is powerful. The prayer of a RIGHTEOUS MAN is powerful and effective.

C'mon, you wanna call yourself a christian? Study your Bible a bit, then. You'll see the truth.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

All I know of this is what I just read. I am a graduate of a Christian college, and have studied the bible for decades. If this report is accurate, there is nothing un-biblical about healing. God can do what He wants to do, and He can use anyone He wants to use as long as they are willing to be used.

"Faith healers" are nothing new, and I have read a lot about them over the years. Some are charlitains, no doubt, but that doesn't change the fact that miracles do happen.

I was a little disappointed to read the last line in the report where the teacher refered to Jesus as a "person". That is a very poor description for God in the flesh.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

God is using Todd Bentley and his team. Now that I know Him personally and have been healed nine times over 20 years of my life, I understand my God to be a God of love. God is so far greater than anything we can imagine that people struggle with accepting Him. If they can wrap their minds around Him, then they might accept Him. I am so thankful that we serve a loving God who will always be more than we can ever comprehend. The more He shows himself to me, the more I understand how much He loves mankind. Jesus died for us to provide a way for us back to the Father after the fall of Adam and Eve.
It is a free gift for us, paid for by Jesus giving his very life for us. That's the kind of God who performs these awesome, authentic healings! We as Christians have to remember that even Jesus walked among the "Pharisees" .... they witnessed some of his greatest miracles and still did not believe and murmurred against him. Why are we surprised today that there are people that are skeptical.... i say don't judge it until you have gone there. I plan on going in July for 6 days and can't wait to see what God does in my life. My hips were healed of pain over the internet when watching and when one has truly felt the presence of God..... there is no more denying. I pray that all the "fence watchers" and critics get blessed somewhere in their lives along the way before Jesus returns for his people. God truly just wants to be let out of the "box" that the Church has so neatly tried to squeeze him into and reveal His Love and His Power to this dying and hurting world.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

A young friend visited the Lakeland meetings in May. She is tattooed and pierced like Todd Bentley and might look a little out of place in a church that professor R. Where is the scribe? Where is the disputer of this world? Hath not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.” Isaiah 44:24, 25 “Thus saith Jehovah, thy Redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb: I am Jehovah, that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth, that frustrateth the signs of the liars, and maketh diviners mad; that turneth wise men backward, and maketh their knowledge foolish.” Rev. Todd Bentley doesn’t even get a chance to pray for these people. As Todd spends many hours in God's presence, he shows up every night with God's glory on him, and then the GLORY flows on everyone healing and delivering them. Most are already healed when they get on the stage. Don’t feel too bad; you are not the first one - satan was also jealous of God’s glory. PS: My granddaughter walked out of the hospital two years ago after being on machines with no brain waves and not able to breathe on her own for three days. Guess what? God revived her all by Himself. I guess you haven’t heard that there have been several resurrections from the dead connected in some way to the Florida revival – one two-year-old just before being cut open for harvesting of her organs and another a man already in his casket sat up alive and well. Now that's what you call a radical Christian who believes in the resurrection!!! Get ready! Get ready! There will be many more. God has to get his Church ready for His soon return. I would rather jump up and shout over that than over a little brown ball going across a white line.
Reba Benton, a Lover of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit
Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

This is for Onyx "Steel" Wilson

"DON'T YOU PEOPLE READ YOUR BIBLES?!" - I sure do...do you?

"Seriously, this is ridiculous." - Not really. I admit, some of the things that happen in these services are a bit out of my comfort zone - but hardly non- or anti-biblical. Read Acts 2, they appeared to be drunk to those in the area. We are fools for Christs sake my friend. God's wisdom is as foolishness to men, who are we to tell Him who to use or how He can act?

"The Bible make it VERY clear that the apostles were able to heal and do miracles, they were able to pass that gift on to someone else ONCE, and after that, that gift died out." - Cite your verse, I've read the NT time and time again and have never read such a thing.

"The power to perform miracles was to prove that Jesus was the messiah and was for the Jews, to help them believe...But after that, we had the Word of God to give us faith." - Again, cite the source(s.) In the Great Commision Christ told us that the signs of casting out devils, healing the sick, and speaking in new tongues would follow His believers. That verse, among many others, applies to you and me.

"And is this guy even preaching the right doctrine?" - I've kept my eye on Todd for a few months even before the revival, and everything I've heard Him teach directly lines up with the Word of God.

"How is his life?" - I obviously don't know him personally, but from what I have seen he seems to have a solid Godly lifestyle.

"A good tree cannot produce bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot product good fruit." - This is true. And I have not seen any so far, doctrinally or in lifestyle.

"Is he following the formula in the Bible for making disciples?" - ?

"Is he even making Disciples?" - Absolutely. They are biblically training anyone who will come (as many as 500 people a day) to preach the gospel, then they are sending them out preaching salvation through repentance and grace by faith in Jesus Christ.

Is he teaching people to obey the Word? - Yes. If anyone wants proof, just watch the Revival for a few nights with a Bible and Strong's Concordance in hand. All your questions will most likely be answered.

"The Bible says that the servants of Satan masquarade as angels of light, that wolves will come in sheeps clothing, and that false teachers will abound." - Very true, and we all must be cautious not to be taken by strange doctrine. But so far, and I've watched every night, his doctrine and teachings (although visibly different from what many of us are used to in our local church) hold sound to biblical doctrine.

Anyone who questions this stuff, especially Mr. Wilson, feel free to e-mail me @ jesus_freak777@ilovejesus.net - I don't claim to have all the answers, and if you can prove me or this revival wrong by scripture, feel free!

Also for the record, I have a friend who was healed of colorblindness and another friends son who was healed of a chronic sickness as well while watching on GODTV. Not to the Glory of Todd, but God moving in the body of Christ.

Thanks MSNBC, this is a well written story. My only recommendation is that for your next story like this is to find the people that have and have not been healed. Get their opinions, and if possible the doctor confirmed records of the crazy stuff being heald like MS and AIDS.

Be blessed all!

In Christ,
        Donny

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

Jesus is alive and well and everyone who chooses to ignore it will be judged for that and by then it will be too late. We as a church body have failed to show the world that we have the true power and authority, because we have not obeyed the command of Jesus.
We had it all along and have not used it and now when God, Himself shows up and uses a sold-out believer like Todd, who is only taking God at His word and when hundreds of people from every corner of the world start receiving healing, we cannot comprehend it.
So what we can't comprehend, we criticize because otherwise we would have to make room in our brain for the God component and that would really undo alot of people.
We have been there on 5 occasions and are planning to go again, what amazes me is the hunger for more of God than I have ever seen in any church building and I've been saved for 37 years.
God always gives us the opportunity to accept what He is doing or to reject it,but don't go criticizing what you can't comprehend.
hans

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

Thank you for this article, I have watched this online and although I thought this Todd Bentley looked rather odd, I am convinced of his sincerity and of the undeniable miracles that honest people are testifying to.
Thanks Msnbc

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

I just returned from the Lakeland Revival and it was so amazing. So, I went and did that. I went to Lakeland and got some. The Bible tells us that Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever. It says that those who believe will do the same works that Jesus did, that of healing the sick and raising the dead. That is happening through this revival, and it is also connecting many ministries throughout the world.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

Thank you for a well balanced presentation of the move of God in Lakeland Florida. Alice I speak blessings upon you and your family for writing such a positive article.
Joseph
Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

It was good to read the NBC report. I went to The Florida Healing Outpouring for a week with my family. While we were there we experienced God’s presence and witnessed many people healed. We also received an in-partation and since coming back in Canada we have seen several people healed as I prayed for them. One woman who had a hernia said, “the hernia when back into her body. A pastor who was on his deathbed after two heart attacks experienced fire in his chest and received strength. People who had chronic pain experienced the pain leave, etc.

As a believer in Jesus I believe that Jesus is the same today, as He was 2000 years ago. The religious sceptics disbelieved Jesus then as they do today, but people who are hungry for God will find Him. Let’s simply believe what the Bible says. I want to encourage people to watch the Florida Outpouring on god.tv as well as to go there personally, especially if they are in need of healing.
.
Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

What a lousy bit of reporting. 'Twould have been rather easy to actually verify these healing claims. But of course, that would take more effort than simply collecting various opinions.

BTW, I seriously think this sort of thing, as well as the TBN, is all an undercover plot by atheists to make Christians looks stupid.

What part of 'testing the spirits' don't you understand? We aren't supposed to see if we 'feel' cool, if we 'feel' fuzzy. This is nuts. No wonder atheists think that they are so smart - if this is what they think Christianity is, I understand completely. Truly Spirit filled men like Luther, Calvin, Augustine, Spurgeon, et. al. would be turning over in their graves...

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

All I can say is WOW!
My husband and I were at the meeting this past week...such a presence of God, just being there was refreshing...this is real. What you people need to realize is Todd Bentley isn't healing these people, God is, he's working through Todd. And as far as the "falling out" goes, I go to a pentacostal church, and I have had hands laid on me before, theres times where I have gone down, and theres times where I haven't opened myself up to it and didn't. The power of God is soooooooo strong in lakeland its undescribable,it's true, Todd barely touched me, and God put me down. It's something that you really have to see to believe and you can't really convince non believers otherwise, but it's deff. a life changing experience. All thoes who truly don't believe in this, God Bless you and you will be in my prayers tonight.

Revivalist claims hundreds of healings

What, did you check this out? If you try to find salvation in Todd you will not, if you try to find Salvation from Jesus you will. For all those negative comments….especially the man that says his wallet is hurting….if you have faith and let the lord be lord he will bless you so much more so that you wallet does not hurt or you get blessing in the other places that you want. I am very young and recently gave my life to Jesus; he has delivered me and blesses me well beyond what I deserve. He can and will do that for anyone, all you have to do is seek him. If you value the world and money over him you will be empty. If you put the lord first you will be filled. How do you know what being filled feels like until you are filled??? Why don’t you try and find out! For all those doubters out there I dare you to do one thing. Why don’t you ask Jesus? Be open to the answer he will bring you. For he loves you even if you hate him and also don’t believe him. Jesus cries for you, yes you, the one that is reading what I have written.
And for the person that says this is a crazy cult, wow, yes there are many many crazy cults and many many false churches and more but one thing that that person needs to remember or see is that there really is a Jesus and a Santen that wants to keep you in bondage. He will do anything it takes. Like inventing crazy cults..sooooooo hmmmm how to tell what a crazy cult and what’s not, you have to ask the lord yourself and ask him to revile to you what’s going on. Because if I was reading this article first hand and did not know what was going on, ya you bet ya I would not believe it. But I really seeked the lord on this and I know it is just one way the lord is moving. There is so many other things that are happening that is not written in papers…if you only knew.
This life is so much more then the physical, there is a spiritual world too. You know that atoms exist right? Well you don’t see them right? You have to use a telescope? Well you can not use worldly things to prove Jesus because it is spiritual. The only way you can know in your hart it is true is to experience it. To experience the lord and feel the truth in your soul. Sounds crazy but the truth is, is that it Jesus is real, he lives, and he loves you more than anyone on this earth does. Seek him!!!!!
