Our President is not the only person in charge, he gets to take the rap for it. Many Americans vote only during Presidential Elections instead of voting for Congressmen/women and Senators. Members of the House are elected for longer terms then the President! We also have families of Politicians who have been in office longer than some of us have been alive. I would agree that our President does not always represent himself in a way that can't be taken poorly, but pick up a Newspaper or get on the internet and look what other people around the world are dealing with. I feel sorry for a man who takes the blame for everything that is wrong with the country, but I really feel sorry for Dawid whose message board has been polluted with ignorance instead of honoring his memory. Now that we have 4000 Troops (whom volenteered) killed over a 5 year period people still wounder why we are in the countries we are in. WAKE UP PEOPLE Iraq, Afgan and syria all were funding the missions just like 9/11 and everyone that is here complaining about the wars that we are fighting have never stepped foot in any of those areas to see what those govt. where doing or how they were treating there people. As for Bush he has done more for our armed forces in the last 8 years than any other president since Reagan. As a OIF Combat vetern I can say that all you people have no idea how good you have it and if you can just sit and look at numbers then how would you feel if it was your family in the twin towers on Sept 11, 2001 and had 3000+ lives taken in a few hours not a few years. I guess when President Bush stood on the ruble of the twin towers and told the entire country we would go after and destroy any country that either supported or harbored Terrorists of any kind you thought he was lying....He is the first president that has not only made the military a better place to serve he is also giving us the financial support to our families while we are doing what we chose to do. I guess the American people are not ready for a president to do exactly what he says he is going to do. We nee to Nuke Iran and finnish the Job we started to do the day after Sept 11, 2001.

SPC BEASLEY

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

My heartfelt prayers go to the family of this brave young man.
I feel that he should definately be granted American Citizenship even though he originally joined the military to expidite the process. He knew what he was getting into when he signed up, he knew the risks, the challenges, and the fact that he might die for the country he loved so much that he left his homeland for it. He is definately a better American than those who were born here that spit on the Constitution, burn our flag, and go out of their way to try to make "America" a dirty word across the world.
I know you are with God, Dawid Pietrek, He now has a very special job for you. Good people who are so loved and love so much are turned into Guardian Angels. I truly believe that you are now in the ranks of the Guardian Angels protecting the country you loved.

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

It would be so nice to be able to end both conflicts that have our military stretched to the limits - but lets look at some statistics. In 1980, the year I signed my first contract with the Army, the Army had 16 combat divisions on active duty and 8 in the reserves. Today there are only 10 active combat divisions - and they are doing alot more than we ever thought of in 1980!! Before I got out of the military I got extrememly tired of hearing 'Do more with less'! It would be impossible to complete all of the jobs that have been defined for today's military with the man-power we have under arms. The fact that we have been so successful at all is an AWESOME tribute to the men and women who sacrifice every day to serve their country. And remember they do it willingly and rarley ask 'why'; they do the job they are asked to do and then come back for more.

Thank you PFC Peitrek for your service!! Wilmington NC.

It is very sad this young man lost his life for a country he loved. What is even more sad is that people born here have no idea how great a country we live in. So many of us have never traveled outside our country or ever visited any what we call third world countries. We dont live in a country that where if you don't agree with the government they hunt you and your family down and kill or jail you. We dont live in a country there is not enough food. We do live in a country that gives you more opportunities then any other country in the world. I don't agree with how this war was handled and many mistakes were made but one thing I do know is every person no matter what country they live in should have this freedom and opportunity. These heros that have made the ultimate sacrifice understood this and were willing to pay this ultimate price for what we take for granted. I make it a habit to thank the military personnel for there great sacrifices and if I see them eating out many times will take their bill and pay it. These are the true heroes of this country not the Clintons or Obama's or Bushs or any sports figures that we seem to worship. It would be so nice if people woke up and quit all the politics and go back to what made this such a great country to begin with, welcoming all and defending the freedoms of all.
I don't care where a person lives it is the responsability of the ones that have the ability to protect those that don't. This is the main theme of the constitution! It's not a perfect place, but there's something here that draws independent souls. With all our disagreements over politics and policy, we who live or want to live in the United States respond with respect and admiration to this Marine who put feet on his hopes and dreams, did it legally, and gave the ultimate sacrifice to the country he valued enough to defend. My family has been in North America since the Dutch setteled New Amsterdam (NYC) and I wonder if I would have or if any of us whose families have been citizens for more than a generation or two would have what it takes to follow our dreams with such energy and vigor? So unbelievably sad.”

Miss Melinda, May I try and answer your question.
Answer: Tyranny, Oppression & the right to Freedoms you and I experience every day.

Most will tell you it’s because of the oil in that region and that we (America) would like to control. I think if we wanted to control it, it would have been ours already. I believe that we are trying to make a better place for all mankind. Being the world’s police is a difficult job, but who will do it; and do they have the resources to do it with. We live in a great country and have freedoms others dream about. The Marine, Dawid Pietrek of Poland, not only know that, but by his own free will; enlisted in one of the most prestigious and toughest military organizations in the world. His dream, “a college education and a career as a police officer” is what he hoped for. Could he have done this in Poland? Yes. I also believe he was in the pursuit of a better life, liberty and happiness. I wish his family well and thank him for his service. I know he’s with my brother Marines guarding the street of heaven.

I recently spent some time in Iraq as a Private Security Contractor; very dangerous work I might add. I was able to meet Iraq people from time to time and talk. Margarit is a woman who reminds me of my own mother, small in stature and very bubbly. She says to me, “Mr. Jerry, American stays in Baghdad, no go. You go very bad.” Basil and his nephew, Omar would bring blocks of ice to a remote camp I was working at for awhile. Both were very friendly and enjoyed being around Americans. My daughter had a shirt from her school signed by her friends and wanted me to give it to Omar. Basil was killed on his way to make his ice deliveries, why, because he was working for Americans. I don’t know what happened to Omar. I’d like to think that he’s safe somewhere.

Miss Melinda, I guess what I’m trying to say is that you and I have a freedom many in the world will never know, Having been to war twice, I hope you’ll never have to experience it at your door step.

My Grandfather never thought my father would have to go to war, dad did. My father thought I would never go to war, me and my twin did. I hope my son will never go to war, but if he so chooses to walk that path… with heavy heart I say, “Godspeed my son.”

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

Payable To The United States of America---thank you Robert Auberger.
To all the Dawid Pietrek's of our country-your checks will never bounce! It was God's will for your check to be cashed but it is the will of the American people that you and your brothers in arms will forever be memorialized somewhere and somehow in this great country.

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

You'll who think GW BUSH is a killer seem to forget 9/11/01.God Bless all our men and women.
Joan Duggan

News flash - I don't think anyone has forgotten 9/11 but perhaps the fact that the biggest percentage of
the men who were hijackers were Saudi's, not Iraqi or Afghan citizens. If only more american citizens had the courage to do what this man did, our country would be better as a whole. i strongly oppose this war and all that bush stands for, but it warms my heart to see people from other countries stepping in to help fight our war for something as simple as citizenship. Being only 15 years old, men and women in the service like Dawid have influenced me to accept my citizenship as an american as a great gift, and if called upon i would, with great honor, take arms against america's enemies and fight alongside such brave soldiers like dawid. w May whatever god, entity, or form of future life you believe in grant you the peace and respect you have so undeniably earned. The immigration issue burns me up when I compare aliens with bad attitudes to men like Dawid, who are willing to serve, and die, for this country.

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

Melinda, regardless of the situation in Iraq, this soldier was killed in Afghanistan, which had a much more credible case for war and much more international support than the war in Iraq. If you are going to question the war, question the right one please.

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

Semper Fi Soldier

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

God Bless Him! Thats just silly. Some people fight in wars because they enjoy the adrenaline rush they get from the constant gunfire, and the fact that they've killed someones father/mother, brother/sister, or son/daughter. Yes some do join the war because they love they're country. But that does not mean they're neighbor, who is against the war, doesn't love their country. Because the Iraqi war is not a war to fight for our country...its a war to fight for oil.

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

Marine Semper Fi!!!
For you Morons out there who are using this article to plug your beliefs in the war - go away.
But please go away knowing that you golden spoon up the azzz morons should go live in all these countries and find out how real life is.
There may actaully be a few of you that have and still hold to this belief - then why are you here? go there and you can become part of the golden army of islam or whatever country/religion that don't like or don't have what we have created in this country.
I'm sure if it was up to you morons we would all be speaking german/russian/japenese right now.

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

I said it before if someone enters our military and forfills their commitment or died serving they should become a citizen this young man (Marine) has.

A lost brother in service like so many "We Remember" for all those posting thank you, those whom serve need to know it mattered as well those whom served your past veterans from Vally Forge to today.

Do not forget the missing MIA/POW whom have not made it home this young Marine has made a new one by paying the highest price as they the life given to the nation.

Thank God he is able to rest in its soil with the extended family veterans to comfort his family my hope is this small token somehow will ease the Pietrek's grief.

To his family my heart is pained we gain a Hero you lost a son.

Speaking for myself Glen Talon
American Cold War Veterans (N.H.)
UNDIQUE VENIMUS 3/71 ADA

Soldier dies for country not yet his own

I am very sad for the soldier that gave his life for this country and ALL THE OTHER SOLDIERS THAT COME TO this country to better themselves and their families. It is my opinion that any soldier that comes from another country and is undocummented and gets killed in the armed forces for defendig this country should be rewarded by permitting his/hers blood relatives such mom, dad etc become legal residents. It is highly probable that because he is the token figure of a "young strapping white man" that he is getting this attention. Where is Jessica Lynch for a commentary? Only people who are mal-informed and lack sophistication are stupid enough to bumble tears after a story like this. It was his choice, and he did it for selfish reasons. It's not like he went down fighting. My only sense of honor for him is my sadness that he was stupid enough to die for a lie. I would have been the first one in had the cause been an honorable one. But I'm not such a half wit that I give in to kneejerk reactions. The Sheeple comments I see here are the same that got our country and planet here. And when we make the mistake of going into Iran, sending gas prices upwards of 350.00 a barrel, how do you think the world will respond? The US of A doesn't own the world, niether is it the greatest country (every country says that). So get over yourself. Be a true patriot and grow a brain. The Germans supported their troops too.
