With the Republican National Convention happening in St. Paul, thousands of Ron Paul supporters held the Rally for the Republic in nearby Minneapolis, even though his presidential campaign is over.

It is under GOP rule that legislation was proposed to keep Veterans from buying guns. It was under GOP rule that the ONLY official outlet to sell US Military Surplus ammunition and parts of amunition to the public was closed down (Talon Manufacturing, W. Virginia). It was a GOP run BATF which changed it's regulations and banned importation of gun barrels for those who build or repair guns. It was that same BATF and Justice Department which changed the classification of blank steel plates and now calls them "Gun Recievers", requiring a Federal Form 4473 to buy a steel plate. It was your GOP-run Justice Department and State Department which has cut off importation of gun pieces and parts, many to rare war relic firearms, so that no repairs can be made.
So while the Democrats advocate sweeping sudden draconian gun laws which are in many cases easily defeated on Constitutional grounds, your "Republicans" prefer to do it in a form of creeping totalitarianism..legislating by decree and bureau, bypassing Congress altogether.
8 years of George Bush has seen more restrictions and bans put on guns and ammunition than Clinton ever dreamed of. Even the big ballyhooed "Assault Weapon Ban" ALLOWED people to still BUY ASSAULT WEAPONS. They simply had to have 5 US made PARTS. I bought LOTS of AK-47s when Clinton was in office.
Wake up, sleeping drones. Your choices are only between Fascism and Communism under this system. The end result will be the same. The only man talking about the Constitutional Republic, is RON PAUL.

'Taxes bad, guns good'

The Second Amendment guarantees and preserves vital freedoms and liberties too many have taken for granted. All you need is a Class 3 or Destructive Device license. This Gun Control thing is a wedge issue like abortion or gay marriage..it's a straw man. Yes, the National Firearms Act made it illegal to own assault weapons / machine guns WITHOUT A LICENSE. But they ARE legal.
Here's a question: If guns are banned completely in New York, why do people get shot there? Why do people get shot in San Francisco? Just google the case ...you'll see what I mean.
I'll tell you why. Once the 2nd ammendment is won the Republicans lose votes. I am an environmental geologist who remediates contaminated sites - most of which are in the inner city. We restore polluted sites so they may be returned to productive use in areas where jobs are needed. However, the local pimps, pushers and racist gang members dont like it. If I did not have a firearm - I would not be here. My right to carry a firearm is vital to my job. I can't just "talk nice" to a gang member and "resolve" our conflict. Guns are not the problem - the culture we have allowed to evolve is the problem. We need to cultivate a culture of Personal Responsibility.

When fathers refuse to step up to the plate and act like real men and raise their own children, our prisons will remain full.
