GALVESTON, Texas – It was a bad morning for 90-year-old Doris Rose. She came home today, and found life turned upside down.
Doris left Galveston Island the Wednesday before Hurricane Ike came ashore. This is what that 700 billon ought to be used for. Certainly not to bail out fat cats. Sure I will probably lose my IRA but there isn't going to be Medicare and Social Security when I get 65 in a couple of years. We won't be able to borrow more money from the taxpayers to bail out Social Security or Medicare. Why are the politicians immune to real need?

We are talking about "bailing out" crooks who profited as long as they could from buying and selling bad paper. These crooks find it perfectly acceptable to attempt to stick Americans with their worthless investments AFTER they have wrung every bit of profit from them.

The attempt to "privatize" social security would have given these crooks a place for their worthless paper so they could have continued their obscene practices. Instead of a bailout, the same worthless paper would have been deposited into the individual social security accounts! We wouldn't have known of the problem until decades had passed and it was time to collect social security - too bad - worthless paper.

The scammers would have been long gone. The elderly Americans, who worked hard and contributed to their social security accounts would have been left penniless. THIS IS WHAT WAS INTENDED BY OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS!

So privatization of social security didn't work.

I prefer to help this lady and others like her who are in dire need. I don't give a rat's behind about wall street fat cats or whatever they want to call themselves. WHY DON'T WE HAVE A SAY IN THIS MATTER? As i write their are still Houston Area residents without power.

'I'm going to need some help' says 90-year-old

Here is one for Ty and his Home Makeover team!! How about it TY!! I also think the gov't should be concerned about people like this instead of the fat cats that caused all this economic mess we are in right now! The people that sit and make millions of dollars get off scott free while we have to pay for it is BS!! I say we take up a petition to have the people responsible for this clusterf**k go to prison and not some cushy prison either. Put them in general population at some hard prison for a long, long time. Basically Bush's address last night was kinda hinting that people not paying their bills led to this, well no duh people couldn't pay for them. If he hadn't pushed so hard to start this stupid war where we are spending trillions of dollars and you build an embassy there that costs trillions of dollars and had to pay for it by jacking oil up to over $150.00 a barrel. Sure there's no deal with the middle east on that one! Do you think the American Public is stupid??Do you think Bush as an oil man doesn't profit from the price of gas going that high, come on?? Then prices at the store go sky high we struggle to just eat and buy gas. When people don't have the money to buy basic necessities, bills suffer, then the banks suffer. Bush, DON'T BLAME THIS MESS ON THE GENERAL PUBLIC!! This mess falls on your shoulders, along with the CEO's of the banks and Investment companies trying to get rich off of the hard working backs of the American public!! Bush you should be impeached and the lot of you should be brought up on criminal charges!!! This is ridiculous!!

'I'm going to need some help' says 90-year-old

I would like to help out Doris directly. Please tell me how I can do that!!! I was in Rexburg, Idaho after the Teton Dam disaster and watched Red Cross people SELLING sandwiches to victims for $5. If you didnt have money, you didnt eat. I lost all respect for the Red Cross at that point. They werent there to help. They were there to make money for their organization.
After the tsunami a few years ago, the NGOs got almost a billion dollars in donations from around the world. I certainly hope that nobody deludes themselves into believing that these groups used that money to help the tsunami victims. In most towns where the tsunami hit, there were few survivors to help. No. They used that money to pay for their own 6-figure salaries and to run their pet projects that have nothing to do with their stated missions. These organizations are totally corrupt and dont deserve a dime.

'I'm going to need some help' says 90-year-old

Yes, Sweet Doris needs every monetary and kind consideration that can be given her.... even if she should only live another week afterwards because of her age. But not helping dear Drois could end her fragile life a lot sooner. And what the news shows us are the people who were ruined and cannot afford to build back. Believe me, all those houses on the coast arent owned by 90 year old ladies living there since the '40's. The single family homes on the coast of most states are mostly populated by large homes of wealthy people. We the taxpayer subsidize more as you say 'fat cat' homes than "Doris" homes...but thats not good heartrending news. And Doris doesnt get the money anyway...its the businesses involved in reconstruction.(more 'fat cats'??). I guess it is fortunate so many were completely destroyed.
