Don't panic folks it won't kill you to turn off the TV, Computer, lights and music...the world was turning long before any of that and people found plenty of things to do in the dark!!!!And who knows while sitting in the dark a few people might actually get the idea that we could live much more simply and life would be much more far if we did!!!

Lights out for Earth Hour

dear White Guy, I'm curious as to why you don't cite sources any of your scientific fact instead you rely on insults and made up words to express an extremely emotionally charged point of view. Man, where are these American morans get off? This country is full of stupid people who think only of themselves and their own desires. What about the planet as a whole? We, the US of A, consume more fossil fuels than any other nation in the world!! We also are considered the LARGEST producer of pollution, you know that funky stuff in the air that makes it hard for you to breathe or that makes water undrinkable, in the WORLD! We as Americans need to realize we can't be isolationists any more. That ended a long time ago. Face it. We are a part of a global society, whether we like it or not. EVERYTHING we do has an impact on the world around, which in turn impacts other people. Think about that next time you decide to throw trash out your car window or pour chemicals on your lawn. All of that has an impact on our environment and our planet. I personally do not want to live in a trash heap, which is what we will have if people don't recycle, reuse, or reduce their consumption of disposable goods.

Lights out for Earth Hour

I encourage MSNBC to lead by example and go dark instead of wasting energy on infomerials

Lights out for Earth Hour

This is a great idea! &nbsp;Even if one does not beleive in enviormental changes caused by man. &nbsp; For one i do not, but i do beleive we all need to be more consciences of our environment.

Lights out for Earth Hour

Isn't it amazing that when there is an objection to something like this, the person objecting resorts to name calling and using words like &quot;retard&quot;? I think that installing the solar panels on all new homes being built and on established housing makes more sense. Lets use the sun to generate the light and as the Navajo's in AZ are planning the wind mills to generate the power they need. Over thirdty years ago the government did not want to assist with educating the people on solar or the wind mills which generate power as that would have offended big business and thier big buck kick backs so the people pay. The rising gas prices have to do with that, too, because humans are requiring so much gas that we have cut our gas supply in more than half. &nbsp; If we turn off cars AND lights during Earth Hour, I know that we could cut those gas prices and emissions down. &nbsp;I love the fact that human race is trying to make a comeback for all the wrongs that they have done in the past century.

Lights out for Earth Hour

Well there has to be an idiot in every crowd... like &quot;White Guy Dancing.&quot; &nbsp;Yes everything in life is a conspiracy ... and the depleted ozone, disappearing glaciers and drsmatic climate changes around the world have nothing to do with coal burining power plants, gas guzzler Hummers and jets filling the skies. &nbsp;Wake up you fool! &nbsp; You may not care about what state we leave our planet in for our children but the rest of us rational beings do! &nbsp;I'm turning all the power off in my house even though my town isn't participating! &nbsp;Every little bit helps.

Lights out for Earth Hour

While I agree with White Guy Dancing that the enviro-emergency is in reality an enviro-lie made up so the feel-good, its-always-mans-fault, Im-ok-youre-ok screamin' liberals can force more of their opinions on us as laws, I do like the idea of saving energy, savings costs (we have to pay the taxes that light up all those city lights), and seeing the stars again. &nbsp;Just the facts, ma'am!

Lights out for Earth Hour

Perhaps, the lights out activity is not so much for this cutting down on global warming;but, rather making people more aware of the state of our world.Any means of doing this is a positive step.Resources are not a bottomless pit.At some point we will be reacting too late to reverse or even stop the change.Does surprise me that WWF had to think of this activity.Hats off to them.Never heard of this until today.Would like to see more cities in my country doing the same.

Lights out for Earth Hour

I was just browsing around this morning and discovered Earth Hour. &nbsp;I hadn't heard a thing about this on the news. &nbsp;What a great idea. As for White Guy Dancing how are you going to explain to your grand children or great grandchildren why they have inherited a planet with no more natural resources, coastal land thats under water because of glacier melting, extinct animals that they will never be able to see because thier environment was destroyed, polluted air they will be forced to breath, drinking water that's so contaminated that it will &nbsp;make them sicker than healtier, and lets not forget all the mercury in our fish and pesticides on our food. At the rate we are going each and everyone of us should be ashamed of what we are leaving the next couple of generations to live with, maybe they will be able to fix what we screwed up. But it's a pity that they should have to cause we are not being responsible for our own actions. Nothing wrong with the idea to &quot;power down&quot; in fact it should be required. But to look at the real issue is, again, not being addressed. It's human greed. The governments and the rich and powerful controlling our societies with their corrupt way of life. For example, we now know we can make autos that get 100 mpg. One company has done it already to try and capture the $10,000,000 prize being offered. It'a ALL about money , folks! But if it makes you feel good join in the &quot;power down&quot; game. It does not take a rocket scientist to understand that if you turn off the electricity you will use less electricity. If you drive less you will use less gasoline. Most people are not going to do these things unless it becomes the law. That is how we control are societies.<br> &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &quot;Not in my back yard&quot;

Lights out for Earth Hour

The only problem with this, as earlier stated, is it doesn't do anything. Production plants run at a constant level regardless of power consumption, it just gets redirected differently if its not being used. Thanks for A/C current, it doesn't just start heating/burning/exploding things. And as far as global warming goes, it's a natural trend for the earth to be heating up and cooling down, currently we are in a heating phase. We aren't helping the situation though, infact it's basically just a rapidization of a natural trend, regardless, polar ice caps are going to melt and the polar bear is going to die, it happens.

Lights out for Earth Hour

&nbsp;1% here 1% it all adds up.
