Despite my being a dedicated Patriots fan here in Raiderland, I really appreciated this story. Lt. Col. Gadson being able to see past his horrific war injuries while inspiring others is beyond selfless, brave, and meritorious; in that, he's a better man than most. It's a cruel and sick joke, though, that such a distinguished veteran had to share the stage with Bush, a child of privilege who managed to avoid active duty in the foreign war of his generation (please - no apples-and-oranges talk about his time in the Reserves) but had no apparent problem initiating the foreign war of this generation. Contrary to what too many people think, one CAN support the troops while being against the war. Unless hypocrite Bush is finally up to doing what he has had no evident compunction about asking hundreds of thousands of others to do (sending family/loved ones halfway around the world to fight his war - fat chance), let's bring the troops home from that hellhole of an expensive-yet-off-budget, unjust, undeclared, and unnecessary war for oil and profit.

I liked his message to the team, be professionals, play as a team, do your best, and coming from him, it inspired. Before this became a big story, it was also a little story. Last summer I was at West Point and, coincidentally, the West Point football team alumni were holding their annual golf outing. I was there for another event, so I didn't see Greg but I heard there was an ex-football player who had lost his legs in Iraq who nevertheless showed up for the golf tournament, and how much support and he was getting from the others. What great spirit he showed, just attending the event. And what an inspriation his fellow players showed, making sure he knew that losing his legs could never separate him from their group. We need to make sure all our fine vets feel this way. Twenty or thirty years from now, when we can put this currently unpopular war in its proper perspective, we are going to thank our stars for the men and women who have stepped up.

I have been a Green Bay fan for 49 years. I knew about the Col when the Giants beat the Pack. I went on to support the Giants in the Super Bowl. I'm retired military and a Vietnam Veteran and I think those of you that chose to make a political statement about this wonderful story stink!!! I could have said worse, oh did I mention that I have a BA in Political Science (perhaps I know a little about good/bad Presidents???)

What has been left out of the story is the great job LTC Gadson and his unit 2-32 FA did in Baghdad. Not only were they doing a great job when Greg got hit, but they continued to do great things after he was evacuated. Their contribution to the security of Baghdad is another legacy of this great officer. Thanks for the help Greg.

I missed this earlier, I am truly awestruck by the courage of LTC Gadson and his unselfish nature. He is truly the embodiment of our fighting men and women! The Giants showed what a class act they are by honoring this man in this way.

As a humble man himself, President Bush was able to recognize and honor another humble man. Lt. Colonel Gadson did not ask for recognition, he did not ask for honor, instead he strove to inspire others to greatness. A true motivational speaker is one who can put their life's experiences into a context that applies to others. If they can relate to your message they can be inspired to achieve great things. Lt. Colonel Gadson is a hero. For those of you who ardently oppose this war, you need to read this article again and realize that you have the freedom to speak your feelings because of these brave men and women risking their lives to protect you and your rights. Look at the sacrifices they make. Lt. Colonel Gadson took something negative and turned it into something positive to help others. And President Bush recognized that quality in him, as did the NY Giants football team. I respect and honor President Bush. Why? Because he has an almost religious reverence for those men and women who risk their lives every single day to protect ours. God Bless America and all of our soldiers who defend her.
